Steep Point

This is the most western point of Australia and the last point of the compass for us to complete. It was 125 kms of 4 wheel driving so we left the caravan in a layby. Simon set off running the first 15kms at 7am before it got too hot. He had to wear a fly net as there were so many flies. I followed half an hour later to do my water drop off duties before driving on to meet him at the 15km mark.

Some of the dunes we had to drive up were very steep,  there would be no way we could have made it towing anything let alone a 2.5 tonne caravan. It was fun though! After the dunes we came out onto a beautiful beach  before heading inland again. Stunning scenery.

Had lunch in the car, no outdoor picnics here unless you want to share your lunch with a hundred flies.

The trip took 2.5 hours each way and we had to drop our tyre pressure to below 20psi to get us through the deep sand. I was very keen not to get bogged again. There were seas of wild flowers and butterflies for about 80kms.
