Yes its just like its name says an eighty mile beach and at least a kilometer walk to the sea when the tide is out. You can see nothing but sea and sand as far as the eye can see. Only one problem, no swimming lots of jelly fish, stingers, sharks and crocs according to the signs. Didn’t see anyone in the sea at all. Amazing number of seashells everywhere and lots of beautiful sunsets here. One day we had  50km winds and this combined with the coarse sand made me feel as if I had been sandblasted, a complete exfoliation free of charge!
