Isabella Falls

Stopped the night at Archer River as Simon wanted to watch the AFL Grand Final. They had a big screen set up and a few people there for the match. We did 5 hours driving to get there and another 5 to get to Isabella Falls. The road to Jardine was great as the grader had been through but south of the Jardine was horrendous. Much worse than the way up. It was such a relief to get to Isabella Falls. It’s a tiny little site with room for about 5 campers and one caravan. First thing we did was unload the ute tray and drive the ute straight into the ford crossing to wash all the red dust off.  Simon washed the ute  and I wiped down the contents of the ute tray. Everything was covered in a thick layer of dust. Our camping table is now rust and white the dust is engrained in the plastic. Even our clothes have red stains on them it gets into the fabric and ruins them.

You can swim at the falls no crocs probably too high up. The road from Laura here was amazing so picturesque, beautiful forested hills. Had a wash in the river so nice to get the dust off. Lovely hearing the waterfall at night slept like a log. We are both very relieved to be out of the corrugations they were terrible much worse than I had anticipated but we made it.
